St. Michaels is a beautiful town located in eastern Maryland. The ideal community is positioned in Talbot County and is home to about 1,038 people. It is named for an Episcopal Parish that was established there in 1677. Saint Michaels was named one of the Top 10 Best Small Coastal Towns by USA Today. Other than its beautiful surroundings and small-town atmosphere, St. Michaels is celebrated for being located a short distance from major cities like Washington D.C., Philadelphia, and New Jersey.
The history of St. Michaels begins in the mid-1600s. During that time period, the community served as a trading post for tobacco farmers and trappers. The earliest industry in the town was shipbuilding. By the early 1800s, as many as six shipbuilders were present in or near Saint Michaels. After the end of the War of 1812, the shipbuilding industry declined which greatly affected the town. However, the oyster industry revived Saint Michaels. Today, St. Michaels is home to many attractions and is the tourism industry thrives in the town. Individuals who visit St. Michaels have access to a variety of activities from fishing, boating, sailing, historical or cocktail cruises, shopping, kayaking, and biking. In Saint Michaels, there is something for everyone.
Weather in St. Michaels varies each season. Residents of the town should have easy access to heating and cooling systems. During the months of December, January, and February, daytime temperature highs range from the mid to upper-40s. Snowfall is common throughout the aforementioned months as well.
